Use of Personal Information Collected by Meniscus Educational Institute

Meniscus Educational Institute (MEI) is committed to protecting the privacy of ACCC Learning Channel users. Personal identifying information (eg, name, address, e-mail address) collected during registration is used only to provide services to participants. This personal identifying information will not be sold, traded, rented, or otherwise distributed or disclosed to third parties. To simplify the log-in process, aid navigation through our site, and enhance the user experience, MEI places cookies on participants’ computers.

Privacy of Children

MEI does not knowingly collect personal identifying information from children younger than 13 years of age.

What Are “Cookies,” and How Does MEI Use Them?

Cookies enable Web sites to store small bits of information on your computer and retrieve that information at a later time. A cookie is a string of characters stored in a text file that is sent to your hard drive where your Internet browser files are kept.

  • MEI uses temporary session cookies to facilitate your navigation through our Web site. Session cookies are not permanently stored on your computer’s hard drive. Rather, they are deleted when you log off the ACCC Learning Channel Web site.
  • MEI uses persistent cookies for purposes such as accurately tracking the number of Web site users, remembering whether you have completed the learning assessment or have registered, and recalling certain customizations and preferences that you have specified. Persistent cookies are encoded so that the information they contain can be interpreted only by MEI.
  • Please note that our cookies do not actually contain any personal identifying information. Thus your privacy is not affected.
  • Visitors who are concerned about the use of cookie technology may opt to enable a feature in their browser software that will erase cookies, block all cookies, or warn the user before cookies are stored or exchanged. However, please note that some parts of this site will not function or may be considerably slower if you do so.

Information Collection and Use

Our servers automatically record information when you visit the ACCC Learning Channel Web site, including the URL, IP address, browser type and language, and the date and time of your request. We analyze the server log files to collect summary information about visitors to the Web site. This information is analyzed to generate statistics for such purposes as guiding design considerations, determining successful site segments, and determining problem areas.

We collect personal information when you request a service, including processing your CME request. We may combine information you share with us with information we obtain from other sources to provide a service and/or to improve the quality of our service. We use the information we collect to operate and improve the Web site, to deliver the services you have requested, and to conduct educational research.

Web Beacons

Our Web pages may contain electronic images known as “web beacons,” sometimes called “single-pixel gifs,” which allow us to count users who have visited those pages.

Ad Servers

We do not partner with, or have special relationships with, any ad server companies.

Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your information with other organizations for commercial purposes.

Confidentiality and Security

We have appropriate security measures in place in our physical facilities to protect against the loss, misuse, or alteration of information that we have collected from you at the ACCC Learning Channel Web site.

All of our employees undergo periodic training related to data privacy and security standards such as The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). We limit access to personal information about you to employees who we believe reasonably need to come into contact with that information to provide services to you or in order to do their jobs.

Links to Other Sites

Our Web site may contain links to other Web sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of other such sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our Web site and to read the privacy statements of each Web site to which we may link that may collect personally identifiable information.
