The Food and Drug Administration Amendments Act of 2007 (FDAAA) authorizes the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to require pharmaceutical
manufacturers to submit a Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) if safety data suggest that a REMS is necessary to ensure that the
benefits of the drug outweigh the potential risks. The FDA may require a REMS prior to product approval or post-approval for products that
did not initially require a REMS. A REMS may include such strategies for managing risks associated with potentially harmful drugs as
medication guides, communication plans for health care professionals, and elements to assure safe use (ETASU). The purpose of this activity
is to improve the overall knowledge of, competency with, and performance for the administration of a REMS in a managed care setting. Current
and evolving pain management REMS appropriate for a managed care setting will be utilized as a best practice model for a successful approach
to meeting REMS requirements. Supported by an educational grant from Purdue.

During the last two decades, managed care organizations (MCOs) have spent a considerable amount of time and resources managing prescription
drug costs for large chronic disease categories. Because managed care leaders have identified oncology drugs and biologics as priority areas
for managing costs, education is needed to obtain the knowledge to develop and implement new strategies, coordinate oncology care through
case management, educate patients about treatment with current and emerging cancer drugs, and collaborate effectively with specialty
pharmacy management. Utilizing the management of multiple myeloma as an example, this activity will recommend emerging oncology pharmacy
management strategies and methods for managed care professionals to implement within their current setting as well as extrapolate to other
types of cancer as needed. Supported by an educational grant from Celgene Corporation.

The overall purpose of this educational activity is to present the knowledge nurses
need to better understand the importance of managing BTCP, and to provide potential strategies for application to their clinical practices.
This activity will help reduce barriers that prevent the integration of therapies into practice and will support adherence to current
guidelines. Supported by an educational grant from Cephalon, Inc.

In the United States, colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cause of new cancer cases and cancer-related deaths in men and women.
This educational activity provides an update on the current status of CRC, including epidemiology, early detection, and survival trends. The
current treatment regimens for management of CRC in the adjuvant and metastatic settings are discussed, as well as nursing implications for
managing toxicities of these regimens. The overall purpose is to provide oncology nurses with information on state-of-the-art treatment and
side effect management for CRC to assist them in educating, supporting, and caring for patients with this disease.

Evidence-based clinical practice is an approach to decision-making in which the clinician uses the best evidence available, in
consultation with the patient, to decide on the option that best suits that patient. Evidence-based practice (EBP) is a way for health care
providers to examine nursing practices, analyze alternative and contradictory data, and make sound decisions supported by the best available
research evidence. This systematic approach increases the likelihood that patients will receive the best care possible.

Changes in treatment of solid tumors over the past decade have led to new side effects not often seen with treatments in the past. Over a
decade ago, capecitabine, an oral fluoropyrimidine prodrug, was introduced. More recently, epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors (EGFRIs)
and multikinase inhibitors (MKIs) have become standard of care in treating certain solid tumors. These new drugs have introduced a variety of
dermatologic side effects and nurses need to be prepared to educate and treat patients experiencing these side effects. This CE module for
oncology nurses will address dermatologic side effects commonly associated with cancer therapy.

Clinical Biostatistics: Part 2— Understanding statistics is important to the care of patients with cancer because
appropriate treatment choice is primarily based on data about its safety and effectiveness generated from clinical trials or other studies.
The goal of this activity is to discuss levels of measurement, data types, statistical significance and the different ways data can be displayed
and their clinical significance. This online module is located under Continuing Education on ManageCRC.com, a Web site supported by an educational
grant from Lilly USA, LLC.
Accreditation extended to December 31, 2012.

Clinical Biostatistics: Part 3—This module discusses the most common methods of statistical analysis used in medical and
nursing research. The overall objective is to help nurses make critical decisions about the validity of research studies that may be applicable
to clinical practice. This online module is located under Continuing Education on ManageCRC.com, a Web site supported by an educational grant from

Clinical Biostatistics: Part 4—A meta-analysis is a statistical analysis that collates data from different clinical trials
to elicit a single conclusion about outcomes. The goal of this module is to define the steps in conducting a meta-analysis with examples and how
the results of a meta-analysis can be used in practice. This online module is located under Continuing Education on ManageCRC.com, a Web site

By 2030, statisticians estimate that 20% of the United States population will be 65 years of age or older. The relationship between aging and cancer
risk is complex and far from understood. The median age at diagnosis is 68 years. Questions about cancer management in the elderly remain unanswered
due to our lack of understanding of the influence of age on tumor biology. Advancing age alone should not preclude the use of effective cancer
treatment although the elderly are under represented in clinical trials. The elderly population utilizes a significant portion of the U.S. federal
health budget. The associated burden of care extends to the medical community assuming care of this growing population. This activity will offer
oncology nurses specific issues related to the management of cancer in older individuals that include application to current standards of care.
